Herdens prides itself in offering a quality product at a reasonable price.
The majority of Herdens tasks are carried out on a fixed fee basis. The fees will usually include all travelling, mileage, postage and telephone expenses which other firms may add on to their fees.
In the event that we offer our services on an hourly basis, the rate will again usually include the same things. In all cases we are happy to agree a maximum fee for the task and will always try and give you an indication of the results you can expect for your money.
All work we carry out can be tailored to our clients' exact requirements, meaning you will receive the information and service you require without having to pay for any unnecessary extras.

What are your payment terms?
We are usually willing and able to offer payment terms to UK based solicitors and business clients. In the case of private individuals or clients based outside the UK we will usually expect payment to be made in advance of work commencing, however may be able to offer a staged payment arrangement depending on the type and size of instruction being undertaken.
What methods of payment does Herdens accept?
Our preferred payment method is by BACS directly into our bank account. We can also accept cheques or for a small additional fee payment can be made by credit or debit card through our PayPal account. All invoices are issued in sterling and therefore we expect payment to be made in sterling.
In the event of an international bank transfer, the client will need to ensure that the payment they make takes into account all bank charges including those made by intermediary banks. Our bank does not charge to receive payments, wherever they may originate from.
We have a strict policy as a firm that we do not accept cash payments in any circumstances.
Do you offer discounts for bulk / volume instructions?
By prior agreement, we can usually allow discounts from our regular fees for clients which provide bulk one off instructions or guaranteed levels of instructions on an ongoing basis. In the case of regular instructions, the discounts can be enhanced when advanced payment is made.
Does Herdens accept legal aid instructions?
Herdens are able to take on publically funded cases, however we have found recently that the rates set by the Legal Aid Agency are often significantly lower that the industry standard and therefore the usual fees charged by us. We will therefore not accept any legal aid cases without prior agreement and without a full quote having been provided and accepted.
To ensure that all of our clients are treated equally, it maybe necessary to set a minimum fee on any legally aided cases which we agree to take on. We would therefore recommend that wherever possible clients get our fees pre approved by the LAA. In the event that our fees are rejected or withheld by the LAA, the full amount will remain payable by the instructing client within the payment terms stated on the invoice.
Do you accept no win, no fee instructions?
Due to the nature of investigation work it is unfortunately impossible to always guarantee a sucessful outcome to an enquiry. We are therefore generally unwilling to take on no win, no fee instructions unless there is a guaranteed volume of business (either on a one off or ongoing basis) and previous history of similar cases can be provided by the perspective client.
